Blog2PDF - Keep on blogging

My wife loved her present of her blog in book form. I'll post more about that later. I've added the functionality to handle all the crazy HTML encoded characters. It works well on most blogs now. I'll post some more samples soon!

Remember, you can download the installer here

Found a great site that does cheap printing and their binding process is really phenomenal. http://trubind.myshopify.com

The resulting file is here.

Whether you are going to do your own web site design or you are going to find someone else to do your web page design make sure that your web designer knows what they are doing so you don't end up with a web site design that is laughable.

Turn your blog into a PDF file!

I wanted to archive my wife's blog into a PDF and then print it to give to her for Christmas, but I couldn't find any good utilities. The best I could find were steps to change the template of the blog to a single page then save it as html, however, asking my wife to change her template would kind of spoil the surprise! So, necessity being the mother of my application development, I coded up a little tool to do it for me. Introducing Blog2PDF !

You just point it at your blog and click the button, in a minute or two a PDF will pop up, how easy is that?

You can grab the installer here.

The installer will put a folder on your desktop which has the app in it, when you're done, you can save off your PDF and just delete the whole folder.

Let me know how it works for you and what features I need to add.

A couple notes:

  • This is a .NET app so you will need the framework, which I have a link to on the right.
  • It is mainly aimed at Blogger blogs, and even then it won't work on all of them, if you have trouble let me know and I'll update my templates to try and make it work
  • It will only support 2 pictures per post, if there are more than that, they just get ignored
  • Really long posts will run off the page, I will be updating that soon, gimme a break, it's free!

Some large companies use PDF server software but you only need to use good PDF conversion software to get the same benefit. By converting PDF to Word you can more easily edit documents and the right PDF converter will easily fulfill all your PDF conversion needs.
